SR Technics planted trees in Tree for Belgrade Challenge

Published date:

SR Technics was proud to join Tree for Belgrade Challenge and plant 30 young trees on the left bank of the Sava river on March 4, 2021. The challenge was initiated by the Mayor of Belgrade Dr. Zoran Radojicic and supported by the City Greenery public company (JKP Zelenilo Beograd) and its director Slobodan Stanojevic.

Maja Jovanovic, Manager of Environmental Protection Department at Secretariat for Environmental Protection emphasized her satisfaction when seeing SR Technics employees planting trees and actively contributing to a more beautiful and greener Belgrade. According to her, this year City Greenery planted about 5,000 trees changing the capital’s landscape for the better. “I would like to invite other companies to join the challenge again in November when the new round of planting is going to take place,” she said adding that “Trees are the city’s lungs, an ecosystem that we have to protect and nurture.” “We are proud to support this challenge and do something ultimately positive and beneficial for our environment. As a world leading MRO service provider, SR Technics is constantly developing, improving and implementing initiatives concerning health and environmental protection. We are here to promote, support and implement future initiatives too. You can count on us!” said Mirjana Majstorovic Jaramaz, Corporate Communications Specialist at SR Technics.

This was also an opportunity for our Belgrade office employees to get together and spend some time outdoors following all Covid-19 measures currently in effect in Serbia. Some of them haven’t seen each other almost the whole year, since the lockdown in March last year. “There was a great sense of accomplishment seeing these young trees planted by the riverside. SR Technics together with other companies in this challenge is changing the looks of the Sava plateau making it greener and more natural now,” said Milena Gajovic Shrestha, General Manager at SR Technics Services. “Moreover, our Belgrade employees had great fun – even face masks couldn’t hide the smiles!”

The city of Belgrade currently has 15 percent of green areas. The Mayor’s office has an ambitious plan to increase it to 25 percent by the year 2025 so the ecological map of the city would become greener.

So far more than a dozen companies, international organizations and friends of the city of Belgrade have donated or planted over 1,500 trees. The challenge ends in mid-March but it will be on again in November for all those who want to join and contribute to having a healthier and greener capital.
